quartz

1、quartz（石英）是从德语 Quarz 借来的，德语又是从斯拉夫语里"硬的"那个词转手——石英最硬，名字就叫"硬石头"，记住 qu- 打头带个怪尾巴 -tz（德语借词的标志）。
2、拼写难在组合：qu-ar-tz，qu 读 /kw/（圆嘴唇），和 square（方形）、squeeze（挤）同一个 qu- 开头；结尾 tz 别丢，写成 quart（一夸脱）就是另一个词了。
3、用处记两点：quartz clock 石英钟，手表里那块"振荡计时"的晶体；地质里 rock crystal 水晶也是它。
