withers (n.)
1570s, probably from a dialectal survival of Old English wiðer "against, contrary, opposite" (see with) + plural suffix. Usually said to be so called because the withers are the parts of the animal that oppose the load. Compare German Widerrist "withers," from wider "against" + Rist "wrist."
1. The girl's pitiful history would wring one's withers.

2. " I will be there to show you, " and so Mr. Withers withdrew.
“ 我会等在那里,领你去看房间的, " 威瑟斯先生这样说着,退了出去.
3. " You need not trouble about that at all, " interrupted Mr. Withers.
“ 你根本不用担心这个, " 威瑟斯先生打断了她.
4. " I know how you feel about it, " exclaimed Mr. Withers, halting.
“ 我知道你是怎么想的, " 威瑟斯先生大声说, 停顿了一下.
5. " Just so, " went on Mr. Withers, accepting her acknowledgment of familiarity.
